Zazu operates five salon locations in the Gold Coast, Hinsdale, Naperville, Wheaton and a men’s barbershop which is also in Hinsdale. Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Segretto.A location in Elmhurst is opening in 2020. So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. My parents, Salvatore and Susan Segretto, began their dream in November 1979 in Hinsdale, IL. Starting with just 3 employees the company has grown today to 5 different locations with over 200 employees. We opened our Chicago location in June 2012 on Superior Street. We started with a small boutique style salon to create intimacy with our clients with 4 stylists. November 28th of 2016 we relocated our salon to the glimmering space at 64 E.īy 2016, our staff had grown to over 20 and we needed a bigger space. The whole project was a total gut which allowed us to maximize every square inch. Every detail is accounted for, if you don’t believe me, just come and check out our bathrooms. They’re the nicest bathrooms in any salon in Chicago guaranteed! The Walton location represents the “rebrand” of Zazu Salons. As we have been in business near 40 years it was time to modernize the brand and make the aesthetic timeless. With our new black, white and gold palette the salon will look and feel beautiful for the next 40 years. We began with Chicago in 2016 and completed our Naperville facelift in 2017.
This year we aim to complete our renovation of the Wheaton location. Our flagship salon in Hinsdale is always in a state of change, as we constantly seek to perfect our 10,000+ sq.ft. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you? – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. I think if you would ask any business owner of 40 years if it was a smooth road the answer would be the same.

We have the pleasure of being able to treat people’s souls to beauty, not just their looks. We also believe that is in an inherent right of every person to feel this way.
